On Tuesday, Jeffrey Brown sat down with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein to discuss a new report examining the connections between education and national security. He also took some time to ask both leaders about the role of arts in education at a time when arts classes are often one of the first targets for cuts at many schools. Both are known for supporting the arts, and Rice is an accomplished pianist in her own right, who has played with Yo-Yo Ma, Aretha Franklin and in recital at Buckingham Palace before Queen Elizabeth II.

This entry is cross-posted on the Rundown.
