Bill Ivey, Former NEA Chairman, Author of ‘Handmaking America’
Monday on the NewsHour, Jeffrey Brown talks to Bill Ivey, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts from 1998 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton and is the author of the new book, “Handmaking America: A Back-to-Basics Pathway to a Revitalized American Democracy.”
In this extended interview, they discuss the role of art, culture and education in America and what arts organizations must do to survive current tough economic conditions and lack of government and private funding.
