Jazz drummer Joe Morello, a member of the Dave Brubeck Quartet, has died at the age of 82, via the Los Angeles Times.

Director Clint Eastwood’s film Hereafter, has been pulled from Japanese movie theaters for its depiction of a devastating tsunami, via The Associated Press.

The BBC Philharmonic was in Japan on a tour bus crossing a suspension bridge at the time of the earthquake, via BBC. The group cancelled the remainder of their tour in Japan.

On Monday, the United Nations will host the U.S. premiere of Miral, a film by Julian Schnabel about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, despite protests from Israel, via The Guardian.

The Financial Times looks at China’s predilection for building new arts buildings, but not investing or supporting the artists who might make them come alive.
