The Daily Frame
Fans remembered singer Whitney Houston outside the Apollo Theater in New York on Sunday. Houston was one of the most influential and best-selling artists in R&B. Her rendition of “I Will Always Love You” became a wildly famous example of her vocal control, range and sensuality. After achieving stardom, Houston’s performances became erratic and her personal life destructive, the result of heavy drug use and an abusive marriage. Houston died Saturday, the night before the Grammy’s, in Beverly Hills, Calif. Her last performance was impromptu; she sang “Yes, Jesus Loves Me” at a pre-Grammy event two days before her death.
We’ll have more on Houston’s life and music on Monday’s NewsHour.
