Thursday on the NewsHour: Poetic Partnership

Vera Pavlova is a renowned Russian poet who has published 14 collections of verse. Born in Moscow, Pavlova now divides her time between Moscow and New York. English translations of her work have appeared in a number of American magazines, including Tin House and the New Yorker.

Until the age of 20, Pavlova studied music and planned to be a composer. After the birth of her first child, she said she, too, was born, but as a poet. Her first book of poems translated in English, “If There Is Something to Desire,” will be published in January. The translations are done by her husband, Steven Seymour.
