Roger Rosenblatt calls “Making Toast,” his newly-released book, “the most important story I could write.” It chronicles how after the sudden death of his 38-year-old daughter, Rosenblatt and his wife Ginny moved in with their son-in-law to help raise their three young grandchildren. The book details with humor and grace the quotidian challenges and joys of his family’s reconfigured life.

Rosenblatt was a longtime NewsHour and Time Magazine essayist and is the author of 13 books and six off-Broadway plays. As he told the Newshour’s Jeffrey Brown in an interview, he hopes the book will be helpful to others.
