Cynthia Tucker is editorial page editor of "The Atlanta Constitution" and
a syndicated columnist whose commentary appears in nearly 50 newspapers
across the country. She is also a frequent commentator on the "NewsHour
with Jim Lehrer" and "CNN and Company." In her capacity as editorial
page editor, Cynthia is responsible for guiding the development
of the "Constitution's" opinion policies on everything from foreign
policy issues to local school board races. Before being named
editorial page editor of the "Constitution," Cynthia was
associate editorial page editor. Prior to that she was an editorial
writer and columnist for the "Constitution's" sister paper, the
afternoon "Atlanta Journal." Cynthia has also been a reporter
for "The Atlanta Journal" and "The Philadelphia Inquirer." She has
covered local governments, national politics, crime and education.
She has also reported from Africa and Central America. She is
a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the
National Association of Minority Media Executives and the American
Society of Newspaper Editors. She serves on the Board of Directors
of the International Media Women's Foundation and the Advisory
board of the Poynter Institute. Cynthia was graduated from
Auburn University in June 1976. She was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard
University during the 1988-89 academic year.
