Born
in Toronto, Canada in 1929, Frank O. Gehry earned degrees from
the University of Southern California and Harvard before opening
his first practice, Frank O. Gehry and Associates, in 1967.
Gehry's
buildings include the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, the California
Aerospace Museum in Los Angeles, and the Frederick Weisman Museum in
Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Among
other awards, he has received the 1989 Pritzker Prize, the 1998 National
Medal of Arts Award, and the 2000 American Institute of Architects Gold
Medal.
