AlaskaElectricity RatesResidential = 11 cents/kwh (National ranking: 11) Commerical = 10 cents/kwh Industrial = 7 cents/kwh(National ranking: 7) kwh = kilowatt hour1st ranking = highest rate in catagory DeregulationAlaska is considering deregulating its utilities. A consulting firm hired by the state recommended in 1999 that the state take steps to prepare for deregulation. The consultants recognized the unique nature of Alaska’s power system (few of the utility systems are interconnected) and urged that any deregulation be fully considered by the state legislature.
