Deregulation

Kentucky continues to have a traditionally regulated energy system – customers do not have a choice of electricity suppliers and the government closely regulates generation and transmission. In 1999, a legislative task force recommended no major deregulation during the 2000 session. The task force is conducting another investigation into deregulation of the electric industry. Their report is due at the end of 2001.
