MarylandElectricity RatesResidential = 8 cents/kwh (National ranking: 19) Commerical = 7 cents/kwh Industrial = 4 cents/kwh(National ranking: 29) kwh = kilowatt hour1st ranking = highest rate in catagory DeregulationMaryland is in the midst of shifting to a deregulated system. The law, enacted in 1999, allows for consumer choice for those served by traditional power companies by July 2002 and all electric co-operatives by July 2003.
