Deregulation

Mississippi has not moved to deregulate its electric utilities. In early 2000, the state House and Senate began tracking developments in other states and examining different deregulation schemes in place throughout the country. Neither committee is considering any proposals at this time and state regulators have not taken steps in this direction either.
