The April 2001 legislation returns utilities to regulation and prohibits the sale of their power plants before July 2003. Legislation passed in 1997 had set deregulation to begin at the end of 1999, but in July 1999 the move was postponed. In February 2001 Gov. Kenny Guinn put deregulation on indefinite hold, and the state then moved to scrap its deregulation laws.More InformationDepartment of Energy Information on NevadaNevada Electric Consumer Information Return to Power: An Online NewsHour Special Report |
