Electricity Rates

Residential = 12 cents/kwh (National ranking: 7)

Commerical = 10 cents/kwh
(National ranking: 6)

Industrial = 8 cents/kwh(National ranking: 5)

kwh = kilowatt hour
1st ranking = highest rate in catagory

Deregulation

New Jersey deregulated its electricity market in August 1999. The competition legislation allows customers to choose their electric generation supplier and cuts rates 10 to 14 percent through August 2003. The law did not require electric utilities to divest generation assets or buy energy on the spot market.
