Residential = 8 cents/kwh (National ranking: 22)

Commerical = 6 cents/kwh
(National ranking: 29)

Industrial = 5 cents/kwh(National ranking: 18)

1st ranking = highest rate in catagory

Deregulation

The electricity industry in North Carolina is not deregulated and the state legislature is not expected to consider a comprehensive restructuring bill in the upcoming year. Last year a commission recommended phasing in deregulation in 2005, but now says further study of consumer protections and plant construction is needed.
