OhioElectricity RatesResidential = 9 cents/kwh (National ranking: 17) Commerical = 8 cents/kwh Industrial = 4 cents/kwh(National ranking: 30) kwh = kilowatt hour1st ranking = highest rate in catagory DeregulationOhio instituted deregulation January 1, 2001, following the adoption of a restructuring law in July 1999. Customers can choose the company that generates their electricity, while the existing local utility continues to provide transmission and distribution. Rates are frozen for five years, with residential rates cut by five percent.
