Deregulation

Legislation enacted in 1997 calls for deregulation in Oklahoma by July 2002. Last year, however, the state legislature defeated a bill that outlined the details of implementing deregulation. This year lawmakers are considering bills that would delay deregulation until 2004 and call for a comprehensive review in light of the experiences of deregulated states.
