Deregulation

Oregon is set to deregulate its power industry for large commercial and industrial customers by Oct. 1, 2001. Those customers will be able to choose their power supplier. Residential and small commercial customers will not have a choice of retail provider, but will be able to choose among service package options from existing utilities. The state's deregulation bill passed in July 1999.
