South CarolinaElectricity RatesResidential = 8 cents/kwh (National ranking: 28) Commerical = 6 cents/kwh Industrial = 4 cents/kwh(National ranking: 40) kwh = kilowatt hour1st ranking = highest rate in catagory DeregulationThe power industry in South Carolina is not deregulated. Various boards and commissions set electric rates, which are below the national and regional average. The state's General Assembly considered deregulation legislation during the 2000 session, but did not act. It is not expected to focus on deregulation in 2001.
