UtahElectricity RatesResidential = 7 cents/kwh (National ranking: 36) Commerical = 6 cents/kwh Industrial = 3 cents/kwh(National ranking: 45) kwh = kilowatt hour1st ranking = highest rate in catagory DeregulationUtah's power industry is regulated -- though the public service commission does not regulate municipal power companies -- and consumers do not have a choice of electricity provider. The state's legislature has created a task force to study deregulation. The task force's November 1998 report recommended monitoring deregulation elsewhere in the country and a go slow approach in Utah.
