ANNOUNCING THE STRIKE
President Clinton announced from Martha's Vineyard, MA, that the U.S. military had struck facilities controlled by Saudi millionaire Osama bin Laden.

Secretary of Defense William Cohen and Gen. Henry Shelton, chairman of the Joints Chief of Staff, revealed that the U.S. had attacked six targets in Afghanistan and an alleged chemical weapons factory in Khartoum, Sudan, related to the bin Laden terrorist organization.
President Clinton FROM THE OVAL OFFICE
"There will be no sanctuary for terrorists," President Clinton said in an Oval Office address to the nation.
