JIM LEHRER: In other news today: A homicide investigation began in the Southern California wildfires that killed two firefighters this week. That's after authorities determined the huge Station fire was an act of arson. A pre-dawn tribute was held today, honoring the two men killed. Hundreds of firefighters remembered them with speeches and a moment of silence. The Station fire has burned nearly 150,000 acres, but, by today, it was more than 40 percent contained.

In Israel, there was word Prime Minister Netanyahu will approve building hundreds of new houses in West Bank settlements. Two unnamed aides said it's in addition to the 2,500 units already being built. The U.S. has demanded a halt to all such building. And White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs issued a statement saying: "The United States does not accept the legitimacy of continued settlement expansion, and we urge that it stop."
