Ben Bradlee left the paper in 1991, transitioning to a new role at The Washington Post.
As Bradlee would later put it, "I do hang out a little. That's part of the Vice President at Large's charter, so I don't miss ... too much. But I miss the excitement of the stories that quicken your pulse. That's when a newspaperman can get on with the job he was born to do."
