events in 2004. KERA (Dallas, TX) featured NewsHour anchor Jim

Miami's WPBT
Miami's WPBT held a citizen deliberation on healthcare
on January 21, 2006, at Nova Southeastern University
in Fort Lauderdale. Originally scheduled to take
place in October, the event was delayed because
of Hurricane Wilma. The conversation focused on
preventative healthcare, alternative medicines,
and healthcare costs. WPBT's January 27, 2006,
Issues public affairs program featured the deliberation.

In Miami, and in 16 other cities across the country,
a random sample of citizens participated in day-long
dialogues about what, not who, was at stake in
the presidential election with the goal of illustrating
public opinion at large at a crucial time in our
nation's history. WPBT led the local project.

Miami, Fla. - The Naples Council on World Affairs collaborated
and built on WGCU's station grant to support the initiative,
"Educating Grassroots America on World Affairs," by
holding a seminar on reform in the Middle East.

WGCU Public Media partnered with Florida Gulf Coast University to sponsor a series of campus and community conversations about the Constitution and civics education. More than 150 students, faculty and community members participated in discussions based at the station, the local library, and on campus, where activities included a "Socrates-style café" and guerilla theater. Related programming was aired on Gulf Coast Live!, WGCU public radio.

Charlotte, N.C. - CPCC hosted Project Vote, a civic
engagement teach-in offering the college and local community
opportunities to learn about issues related to foreign
policy that are relevant to the November election.

Aug. 31, 2004: Live audience
event to discuss World Bank issues. Oct. 21, 2004: A
broadcast special entitled, "Democracy, Freedom and
Everyday Violation" will air. Oct. 16, 2004: WTVI observed
Deliberation Day with a barbecue, a voter registration
drive and a town hall meeting at UNC/Charlotte. The
Magellan Society, a network of multi-national professionals
who promote global understanding, hosted a roundtable
discussion on international affairs.

Goldsboro, N.C. - WCC's Global Education Committee continued
its project, Lunch & Learn -- started in 2001
-- where students, faculty and community members gather
for one-hour lunch session to discuss significant topics
affecting our world today.
IVC of Research Triangle

2004
Raleigh, N.C. - The International Visitors Center of
the Research Triangle held a discussion broadcast on
local radio focused on the impact of the war on terror
on the local community and economy.

Week discussions on health care concerns in the
