Station: Twin Cities Public Television (TPT-TV)
KTCA-TV City/State: St. Paul, MN Brief description of project: In "By the People: Minnesota" Twin Cities Public Television, Mayo Clinic, the Minnesota International Center and an impressive coalition of other groups will work together to explore with Minnesotans the many reasons why health -related issues across the planet today can have real impact on their lives tomorrow. Mayo Clinic will provide access to both their physicians and their facilities in the identification and exploration of key health issues facing the world today. Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) will work with Mayo staff, administrators and other experts to help shape those key health issues into a compelling and eye-opening live broadcast. The Minnesota International Center will activate and expand their network of community facilitator to lead citizens in lively discussion of these issues both during the live broadcast and afterward. Finally, following the broadcast, an impressive group of "Civic Dialog" partners will each organize individual "grassroots" community discussions and post to the TPT website highlights of those sessions. These partners currently include the Hennepin County Library System, the Mall of America and the Minnesota Humanities Commission. "By the People: Minnesota" is a one hour program that will air in conjunction with a national companion program "By the People: America in the World." The two programs will air on TPT-2 May 29th with the local show airing at 8, the national program at 9. The local program will be rebroadcast June 2 at 8pm on TPT-17 and again on September 7 at 6pm on TPT-17. Partners: |
