Delegate Letters

Regional Letters

The Mid-Atlantic States

Reverend Allan N. Campbell
Indiana, PA

After excellent speeches by Presidents Ford and Bush, Mrs. Reagan, came the most outstanding presentation of all: Gen. Colin Powell's. He raised several issues: women's choice, race, etc. But made it clear that the Republican Party must be, and is, a party for a very wide and different cross-section of Americans.

I was proud to hear such a fine, faithful, successful, black American leader say that he is a Republican who supports Republican values of limited government, lower taxes, dignity in government leaders, choice about many issues, and he fully supports the Dole/Kemp ticket.

I am looking forward to Dole's speech on Thursday evening. If he is able to truly express his vision for the future of America he will then cement his position as a very strong challenger to President Clinton. Although the GOP platform is very conservative, and, in my opinion, out of focus with the majority of republicans, I think Bob Dole and Jack Kemp will be right in the center of American thought and what Republicans truly support as they begin this final phase of what will be a tough, but exciting campaign.

I think the election will be closer than many experts think.
