I'm here at the San Diego GOP Convention but I missthe excitement of a real, contested convention like we have in Mass.every four years at the our GOP Conventions....

Here's it's all sweetness and light! Unification of my party isbor-i-i-i-i-ng. I'm of two minds. I'm happy that Senator Dole andSecretary Kemp are assured of delegates' complete support but I like abrawl. I think it's my hot Irish blood. I think us, Micks are not happywith peace. We want someone to throw a pike at or play the pipes at.And there's definitely no brawl here. In fact, some conservatives areso bored they're searching for something to fight about. Silly thingswere suggested like walking out on Congresswoman Molinari's KeynoteSpeech even though she carefuly avoided talking about her proabortionviews. Another rumor is that some of Buchanan's delegates aresupposedly not going along with Pat's request that all Buchanandelegates support the ticket. None of those things make sense and won'thappen. Pacem in terra is no fun.

I believe Sunday will be a day we'll look back on as the real kick-off ofthe 1996 campaign. There was no doubt when Bob Dole and Jack Kemp arrivedin San Diego, that the Republicans were "Ready to Rumble." ...

Jack Kemp has impacted this campaign instantly and especially inConnecticut, since people from all over the country are inquiring about theavailibility of tickets to the Vice Presidential debate in Hartford.

Last night I was pleased and privileged to witness a political figure who chose the "high road. Pat Buchanan ended his presidential bid, thanking more than 1200 supporters at the California Center for theArts in Escondido. Choking back tears, he told his supporters to stay in the fight and not to form a third party....

For the record, we are united as a party but we must persuade all Americans watching and listening that Republicans have the ideas that can cure America's ills. Less government, lower taxes, reduced regulations, and reduced spending. In short, we must expect more of ourselves and less from our government.
