Delegate Letters

Regional Letters

The Southwest

We now move on to day four - acceptance speeches. I am sure Kemp andDole will be very good.

Last night, Elizabeth Dole and John McCain were breathtaking. I hopethe American people were watching because they would have learned aboutthe real Bob Dole - a real American hero. And Vice President Dan Quaylelaying it on the line about Clinton and the extreme position he took byvetoing the partial-birth abortion bill...

It was exciting sitting on the floor of the convention and seeing it all happen. And when our Senator John McCain got up and made the nomination speech, the Arizona delegation went wild! Streamers, balloons, whistles and signs all went up in unison. And we all got goosebumps when he shared the story of how Bob Dole wore that POW bracelet until Mr. McCain was returned home.

At this emotional moment, all I could think was John McCain in a Vietnam prison while Bill Clinton protested in England! What a contrast for America!

No one in Washington can make a law that will take our money and spend it better than we ourselves can. The message tonight should be one of working to reduce government and let each of us have more control over our own resources. Tonight I expect to hear our leader share his vision for a better America. And I expect we will know more about who Bob Dole is and why we should elect him to be our next President.

That is the message from this Convention.
