Delegate Letters

  Regional Letters

New England

Greg Martin
Keene, NH

We are having lots of fun. Each day we see delegates walking by with the weirdest costumes and hats. We exchange buttons and pins from our states. We make new friends and share stories. Our delegation seating is located down front in the middle of the hall, right next to Iowa and behind Kansas. Our location gives us the opportunity to see all the celebrities and view the whole spectacle without missing any of the speeches.

The networks have restricted the coverage of the convention to one hour each night and I believe that is a loss to the American public. The media does not believe the convention to be interesting unless it is "controversial." But, the primary purpose is to convey a message to the voting public about the positions of the Administration about issues affecting everyday lives. It gives an opportunity for people of like mind and philosophy to come together and exchange ideas. I know I will be energized for the campaign both for Clinton/Gore and for the congressional races.

I will remember the hilarity of dancing the macarena, the eloquence of Jesse Jackson, and poignancy of the Vice-President's speech. I have my fingers crossed for the President's acceptance speech tonight. Having seen him speak many times I have great confidence in his ability to convey his message. You can be sure I will be yelling my heart out and waving my signs.
