Battle in Big Sky Country
Montana's At-Large Congressional District

Keenan vs. RehbergREHBERG WINS MONTANA'S OPEN HOUSE SEAT
Republican Dennis Rehberg has defeated Democrat Nancy Keenan in the race for Montana's open at-large House seat. Rehberg beat Keenan 51 to 46 percent. Rehberg, a rancher and former lieutenant governor, will take over from retiring GOP Rep. Rick Hill.

During the campaign Rehberg tried to tie himself to GOP presidential candidate George W. Bush, advocating privatization of Social Security and increased military spending. By contrast, Keenan, an elected state school superintendent, opposed school vouchers and called for expanding education spending.

Rehberg will now be 885,000 Montanans' lone representative in the House. (11/8)
