OK, Who Will It Be?
Oklahoma's Second Congressional District

Carson vs. Ewing CARSON WINS SECOND DISTRICT
With Oklahoma polls closed, Democratic attorney Brad Carson has won the second district congressional seat. Carson edged Republican opponent Andy Ewing by a 55-42 margin.

Carson will replace Republican Representative Tom Coburn, who is retiring to honor his self-imposed three-term limit. Carson edges out retired car salesman Andy Ewing, who Coburn handpicked as his successor.

Republican Representative Tom Coburn is retiring to honor his self-imposed three-term limit, making this a prime Democratic target for the Dem-leaning second district. While this was a close race characterized by a stiff ad war, Carson has held a consistent edge in polls, and has been aided by the district's Democratic voting patterns.

Carson is against further gun control laws, and has pledged to protect a woman's right to choose. His solid public service record and youthful enthusiasm have played well with the second district electorate, as well as the fact that his family has deep roots in the district.
