Reaction to the attack Kristin,
14-years-old, Tennessee The terrorist attacks on the United States September 11, 2001 had an impact on all Americans in one way or another. No matter where people were or what they were doing; U.S. citizens will always remember that day. Immediately, all began to worry about the safety of their family and friends as well as the fear of war. Some may never feel safe flying again. This has affected everyone personally both emotionally and spiritually. People were many different places when they heard about the attacks. Some were at school, at home watching the news, getting their car repaired, driving, and at work. Each will remember the moment the news came, where they were, and what they were doing. Most Americans feel different levels of safety in their everyday life. People who live in small towns don't think they would feel safe in a big city. The Children's Pastor at Raleigh Assembly of God, Karen Carter, when asked if she still felt safe in her everyday life answered by saying, "Not safe, however, I do feel protected by the blood of Jesus." Most others say that they feel safe because they trust God to protect them and they know he will. American Citizens have different emotions about war. Most feel war is inevitable. Although they wish there was another way to solve this problem, they have faith in our President that he will seek God for a decision concerning war in our country. The President said, "On September 11, enemies of freedom committed an act of war against our country. We are a country awakened to danger and called to defend freedom. Our grief has turned to anger and our anger to resolution. Whether we bring our enemies to justice or justice to our enemies, justice will be done." Therefore unless the leaders of terrorism surrender themselves, we will probably go to war. People have many different opinions about flying. Some said they didn't even like flying before and they definitely would not do it now. Others say they would prefer to drive but would fly if they had to do it. Numerous say it is safer to fly now than ever before since the government has upgraded the security for airlines. The attacks have affected many people's lives. It has made us all realize how fragile life really is and that God could take any of us Home in an instant. Numerous Americans look at their family and friends in a different way and want to spend more time with them. It has also made more people realize how fortunate we really are, compared to other countries, because of our many freedoms. Most Christians feel this has brought them closer to God, and made them realize that they need to tell more people about Jesus and his love for them because every second counts. Return
