Reaction to the attack
Maria As
the world looks on in disbelief. I was scared I remember being at school when they told us about the tragedy. It was late in the school day, about noon. I wondered why they told us so long after it happened. Then they asked who had family in NY. Almost everyone raised their hand. Then they asked who was worried about their family - almost everyone put their hands down. I was one of the people who kept their hands up. I got angry because the people really were worried, you could tell they were. They were selfish and they did it to protect their "image."I was lucky enough to find out that my family had called my mother shortly after the tragedy to find out that they were ok. We shouldn't give up hope. Although I don't accept the terrorist attack on New York, I think that President Bush is blinded by wanting revenge against terrorism and you have to look it a broader context of why Arabs do what they do. If America attacks Afghanistan, then terrorism against America will be more frequent. America should be part of the solution not the problem and they should let the public see the evidence about the test done in Sudan to show that a pharmaceutical factory was been used to create Nerve gas as claimed by Bill Clinton. Do pass on my sympathy to the New Yorkers' families who died in the terrorist attack. What's Next? I'm 21 years old and I've never seen anything like this. Our parents witnessed Vietnam; our grandparents WWII; and now us. The older generations can't offer guidance since they've never seen a war like this. Where do we go from here? How are your school and your friends dealing with the news of the terrorist attack? Please share your thoughts and feelings at our online community forum. |
