Twenty-five percent of all CDs sold in 2000 were of rock music.

Rap and hip-hop were at 12.9 percent, and country music sold at 10.7 percent.

Over 14 billion dollars was spent last year on music.

The amount of music bought by ages 10-19 declined sharply in 1999 but improved a bit in 2000.

Only 4.9 percent of music sold is bought on cassette. CDs make up 89.3 percent of music purchases.
