The United Nations does not include every country in the world. Switzerland, for example, prides its self on neutrality and has resisted joining the organization since it was created. However, the U.N. employs over 10,000 people offices in Geneva, Switzerland, and many say as this nation begins to warm to the European Union, Switzerland could take a nation wide vote to join the U.N. as early as next year. Other nations, such as Taiwan, have not joined because they are not officially recognized as independent countries. Taiwan is technically still part of China.
