The View from Wundanyi, Kenya

Greetings from Wundanyi, Kenya situated up in the Taita Hills and surrounded by the beauty of the Tsavo Parks in the valley below. My name is Danna Hering and I just celebrated my first year as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Africa.

I am working with several organizations in Wundanyi. One of them, Global Education Partnership, assists local youth in acquiring job readiness and entrepreneurial skills. The Kenyan youth are some of the hardest working people I've been privileged to meet in this country. It is not an easy place to grow up, but family ties and ingenuity are limitless.

Sylviah, Ezekiel, and Kifoto are three young Kenyans who completed the Global Education Partnership program, and have also volunteered as interns, helping us help others. Here, they write about Kenya's natural resources, the challenges youth face, and the ever-increasing threat of AIDS. Enjoy!.
