18-year-old
Sylvia describes the fight against AIDS in Kenya
Hi-
I live in the Coast Province of the East African country
of Kenya with my parents, brother and sister.
I
like playing and watching basketball, listening to music,
and talking with my friends. I also like making friends,
and reading and writing letters--especially e-mail.
I
would like teens in the U.S. to know that I grew up in
a family that was always caring and principled--unmoved
by fashion or styles. I feel that most people in the U.S.
act according to what is fashionable, and it is easy for
them to get what they want.
What
matters to me most is my family. They are always there
whether I am happy or sad. They encourage me to do what
I want, but only if it is right and if it will help me
in life. I believe I am accountable for what I do in my
life.
