Karshi, Uzbekistan is located in the south and is surrounded by desert. It is less than 200 miles from the Afghanistan border. The summers are hot, with temperatures averaging between 100 and 120 degrees. There is fog and violent winds in the winter.

Students in Uzbekistan study many of the same subjects that American students do: chemistry, algebra, physics, literature, and history. Uzbek students also have 6 to 7 classes each day and usually attend coed schools, like their American counterparts.
