On the day of the wedding, the groom goes to the bride’s parents house with singers. Part of the tradition is that his friends may try to stop him on the way, and he must give them money to let him go. The groom wears traditional Uzbek clothes. At the bride’s parents’ home, they perform some religious ceremonies, then they take the bride to the groom’s parents’ home. All the bride’s family and friends go along, except her father. At the groom’s parents’ home, they build a fire, and the bride and groom move around it, and do more religious ceremonies. At 7 o’clock, they begin the party. The singers sing songs and everyone dances and eats the food the women prepared. After a week has gone by, the bride must now get up early in the morning and sweep everywhere. Everything has to be clean, and she has to prepare breakfast before her mother- and father-in-law get up. The couple will live with the groom’s parents for several years.
