On Revolution's Anniversary, Egyptians Protesting 'Like Never Before'

Yasser, Age 18
Supreme Court Building
Yasser Alaa, a young photographer from Alexandria, Egypt, says the protests marking a year since the Egyptian revolution began are the largest he's seen. He photographed the action in Alexandria and shares his thoughts and his work below.
Why this Student Spoke Out
Jan. 25 marks one year since Egyptians took to the streets to demand that their longtime leader, Hosni Mubarak, step down.

According to Yasser, protesters are calling for the resignation of the military figures who are currently heading up the government in Egypt. Although elections were recently held in Egypt, many young people feel the transition to a democratically elected government is moving too slowly.

The following photographs are from Jan. 25, 2012 protests in Alexandria, Egypt, for which Yasser says people turned out in numbers "like never before."
