I’m writing from Columbus, Ohio, where your local PBS stations have gathered to discuss how we can help teachers across the country. There are numerous examples of amazing projects, from WGBH’s Teachers’ Domain. where you can find tons of downloadable video, to Maryland Public Television’s Thinkport, Channel Thirteen’s teacher training programs, and Kentucky Public Television.

One of the sites that strongly impressed me is Utah Education Network. If you’ve wanted to learn some new tricks, Jared Covili, Tim Stack and Ann Howden have organized an amazing set of technology tutorials that will help you blog, podcast, use PowerPoint, etc. In addition, every Thursday, teachers sitting at any computer can attend a live tutorial webcast in the virtual Faculty Lounge to learn how to create Jeopardy games in PowerPoint, find and create educational computer games, use Google Earth and Sky and much much more. Miss the live webcast? No problem - they’re recorded and archived so anyone (including you) can view them online,
24×7.

More and more PBS stations are creating search engines that match resources to your state standards, as well as teacher training events-many of which you can do for credit-and other community activities.

Check out your local station, and if you find stuff relevant for teachers everywhere, let us know!

Walter J. : I am really impressed by the UEN site - courses and resources. Wow. I'm looking forward to learning from them and using them at my school.
