We know the best way to reduce global warming and get cleaner air is to use less fuel, an immense challenge facing individuals, businesses and government. In this video segment economics correspondent Spencer Michelsvideoplayer.jpg examines the controversial strategy of buying and selling “carbon offsets,” to encourage the growth of less-polluting industries and reduce our overall rate of carbon emissions. Reducing carbon footprints is a productive issue for class projects, discussion or debate - comparing and evaluating the most effective strategies.

The internet has many resources on this topic, a good one being the Green Schools Alliance ‘s compilation of excellent web sites for a number of environmental issues.
