1. How did Bernard Amadei and his colleagues at Engineers Without Borders help the town of San Pablo in Belize?

They built a water pump that brought water directly to the village. This allowed young girls, who had hand to spend much of their time carrying water from the river to the village, to attend school instead.

2. How many volunteers participate in Engineers Without Borders projects? How many projects is the group working on right now?

Engineers Without Borders has 8000 volunteer members working on 250 projects.

3. What does Amadei say is "the most difficult part" of developing projects for Engineers Without Borders?

Making sure whatever technology the group brings over is appropriate and respectful of the community's culture; that the people in the community can understand it, take care of and fix it; and that it provides opportunities (jobs, business, etc.) for the community.

4. What does Amadei plan to do with the $125,000 Heinz award that he recently won?

He plans to develop a network of vocational schools around the world to train the next generation of engineers.
