Obama's Stadium Speech,
McCain's VP Pick Among Convention Highlights

At the Democratic National Convention, held from August 25-29,
Barack Obama made history by becoming the first black presidential
nominee of a major political party. He gave a rousing acceptance
speech to over 80,000 people at a stadium in Denver.
The next day, Republican presidential candidate John McCain
announced his choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, a 43-year-old
mother of five, as his running mate. The decision ensured
that whether America elects the first black president or the
first female vice president, history will be made. It also
re-energized Republican delegates at the Republican National
Convention, held September 1-4.
Throughout the conventions, Children's Pressline reporters
were on the ground in Denver and Minneapolis covering issues
important to young people.
