Forum introduction

How much do you rely on intuition when you're composing dialogue? How much do you rely on formulas, and which do you use?

Why did you feel you had to open up to the world and share your stories? Was it difficult? How did you prepare?

Can I get a print copy of Anna in the Tropics?

Did the idea [for the play] come to you during or soon after reading Tolstoy's masterpiece?

Paula Gocker of Oakland, CA asks:

I've just seen your interview on the NewsHour and have changed my lesson plans for tomorrow. I loved all you said about language and story and am wondering how I can get copies of your work. Tomorrow I'm showing the interview to my classes and asking them to find writing that has changed and/or awakened them. Can I get a print copy of Anna in the Tropics? Thanks and keep going!

Paula Gocker

Nilo Cruz responds:

Paula, Sorry it has taken me a few days, to answer your email. I'm in rehearsals.

The play should be coming out in September. It is published by TCG. There is another play that was published by Theater Communications Group. It is called Night Train to Bolina and the name of the anthology is Out of the Fringe.

Good luck with your class.

Nilo
