Nobel Prize-winning physicist Steven Chu is leading the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory's efforts to develop cleaner forms of energy, including new types of solar cells and new biofuels. He answered viewer questions about his research and the future of alternative fuels.
Should we be partnering with researchers in other countries to solve our energy problems?
Bob Letcher of Columbus, Ohio asks:
It seems to me that the research effort you are undertaking is far more important than the nationalistic formulation "energy independence." Why must energy independence be pursued independently? Why not partner with researchers from other countries?
Steven Chu responds:
I agree with you 100 percent. This is a world problem and we should help each other.
