A Quiet Revolution in Eye Care in India FLASH VERSION
In India, the Aravind Eye Care System has provided eye care to millions of people for more than three decades, offering sight-restoring surgery to impoverished patients by subsidizing the cost with paying patients. The state-of-the-art facilities were established by Dr. G. Ventakaswamy, with the goal of eliminating needless blindness.

In Surgery, Since its creation in 1976, Aravind has served some 27 million eye patients. About 3.4 million have undergone surgery, mostly to reverse blindness caused by cataracts.
