The 15,000 scientists, community organizers and policy experts at the biennial International AIDS Conference face the daunting task of responding to an ever-widening epidemic.  This year's conference in Bangkok aims to promote worldwide access to HIV treatment and prevention.

The fund has not raised the money it needs to fully operate. Many are looking for the U.S. to increase its donations, while Washington wants other countries to give more.

Botswana Battles AIDS with Aggressive Program
