Salima HIV-AIDS Support Organization
An all-volunteer organization of care-givers operating in Salima, a
rural region in central Malawi. They make home-visits assisting patients
with medical and nutritional needs. They also offer support for children
who have been orphaned and do AIDS testing.

Project
Hope
Project Hope is a U.S. non-profit that works closely with local community
based organizations. They train a estate laborers in Malawi as health
workers - instructing them in how to provide basic and essential services
for workers and their families - vaccinating young children and pregnant
women, providing nutrition counseling, treating diarrheal disease, and
promoting good hygiene and sanitation. HOPE has also helped these estates
develop and maintain effective HIV/AIDS education activities, and has
trained health providers in treating pneumonia, malaria, sexually transmitted
infections and in providing family planning services.

Botswana-Harvard
Partnership for HIV Research and Education
The partnership-a collaboration between the Ministry of Health of Botswana
and the Harvard AIDS Institute-conducts a range of epidemiologic and
laboratory-based studies. The research activities focus on mother-to-child
transmission of HIV among the local population and drug resistance testing
of the HIV-1C virus before and during treatment. Contributions to the
Botswana-Harvard Partnership directly benefit the clinical care of individuals
and families living with HIV in Botswana.
