The Eden Alternative is one person's vision of the ideal nursing home. In creating the Eden Alternative and the Green House Project, Dr. Bill Thomas included lots of plants and animals, a daycare center, and other details to make residents feel more at home while getting the range of resources of an institution.

If you could design the perfect nursing home, what would you be sure to include? Have you experienced an overarching outlook or a minor detail that made a nursing home a good place to stay? Or was there something about an otherwise good place that made you never want to go near a nursing home? What about those programs made the difference?

What is the best way to care for people who need inexpensive help with their medical care and everyday activities?
